A phone camera can be used as a webcam if the following steps are taken. This is not going to be a tutorial on how to take a picture but more of a guide in how to use the photo mode on your phone.

- Open up your camera app, there should already be an option for taking pictures by pressing the camera button or if you must use the phone's button, tap that button

- Once you have successfully taken a picture press something else on the screen for about three seconds

- Now view what you just took in the Gallery. In some cases this may not work and you need to go back into Camera Mode before deleting it from there. If that is the case go back into Camera Mode, start over and follow through with these steps again.

1) Your Phone. Obviously.

3) A Chromecast or Apple TV (or something similar).

4) A connected computer, tablet or smartphone.

5) The USB cable that came with your phone. 

6) A small micro-USB to USB adaptor (if necessary).

7) Access to the internet and an email account. This can be your mobile service, home broadband, or a public place.

8) Patience. It's not exactly rocket science but it can be fiddly sometimes!
